Jim Progris - Pianist, arranger, composer, conductor, author and educator - all of this and more. Managed artists, served as director of two national music organizations and managed a concert hall. In 1958, Jim joined the Berklee College of Music faculty in Boston, Mass. He served as Associate Dean from 1964-68. His responsibilities included coordinating the jazz theory curriculum and developing music education courses. He also wrote the first group keyboard method. In 1964 Jim introduced film scoring courses and ensembles.

1969 brought Jim to the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. From 1992-2011 he chaired the Music Business and Entertainment Industries department and introduced media writing and production courses.

During a two-year hiatus, 1974-75, Jim developed and directed the Commercial Music/Recording program at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.

In a Downbeat magazine article, titled “Guardians of the Musical Future”, Jim was named as one of six leading jazz educators.
